This project is the result of two friends: an audio engineer and a filmmaker’s shared passion for metal music.
Our mission is to provide Ontario rock and metal bands top-notch mixing and mastering and cinematic music video production at an incredibly discounted package price.

Meet the Team
James Zhan
A mixing engineer who knows how to elevate the energy and emotions in your heavy music.
I’m the founder and audio engineer of the Toronto music studio, James Z. Productions, and I have been mixing and mastering rock and metal music for the past 5 years.
I know how to get a pissed-off sounding verse and a soaring chorus in metalcore music, how to get a deathcore song to sound dark, cold and chaotic like doomsday is close, and how to create synergy among very different song sections in progressive metal.
Most importantly, I know how to craft a unique, custom sound specifically for your music.
My quality of work has attracted bands around the world—I have worked on dozens of records and singles by bands from Canada, the United States, and Asia. Many of the bands toured nationally with the records I mixed for them, and some of them even toured internationally.
All I’m saying is, as your fellow headbanger, I’m here to make you sound good.

Michael Cao
A filmmaker who strives to marry the auditory to the visual.
I’m a Toronto-based cinematographer/filmmaker who has been on a ceaseless journey of storytelling and image creation since I first picked up a camera 9 years ago.
Under my production company December Flower Films, I have had the opportunity to take on a large variety of projects, and metal music videos are undoubtedly amongst my favourite projects. Much of my visual aesthetic is characterized by a dark, moody, and melancholic composition. In my own work, I strive to have each of my frames embody the emotional depth within the story.
I excel at creating music videos that give your music a strong visual identity.
My goal is to help bands create a visual counterpart that's unique and true to their music, guiding them in an A-Z process from idea conception all the way to project completion.
I'm here to make you not only sound good, but also look good.

$500 - one full-day shoot (up to 12 hours)
$700 - post-production (editing, color grading, revisions)
